School Uniform Policy

St John the Baptist National School has a school uniform and school tracksuit. The uniform may be bought in Hydes, Main Street, Midleton or in any department store. School uniform must be worn for all formal occasions. School tracksuit must be bought in Hydes, Main Street, Midleton and must be worn on PE days. Please clearly name all articles of clothing.

Formal Uniform:

Dark grey skirt/pinafore or trousers (dark grey shorts may be worn on warm summer days)

Blue shirt

Navy v-neck jumper/cardigan

Grey/white/navy socks or grey/navy tights

Flat black shoes (black boots may be worn in the winter)

Navy ties

Navy ties are optional, but each child must have one to wear on formal occasions.

Coat

Any coat can be worn. A school coat is available to purchase directly from the school office.

Tracksuit

The school tracksuit must be purchased from Hydes, Main Street, Midleton. A blue polo t-shirt must be worn underneath. Navy knee length shorts may be worn on warm summer days. Tracksuit and runners must be worn on PE days. Your child will be informed by their teacher what day this is.

Jewellery

For safety reasons the ONLY items of jewellery allowed are a watch, ring and small stud earrings. Make-up and nail varnish are not permitted.

Hair

Hair should be neat and tidy and cut in a conventional style. Dyed hair is not permitted. For hygiene reasons children with long hair should have it tied up.

Helpful Hints:

• Elasticated waistbands trousers are easier for small children to manage than buttons and belts.
• Velcro runners are easier than lace ups, until your children can tie their own laces.
• Please label all clothing, bags and lunch boxes, as most are identical.
